After Bihar, now an incident of collapse of an under-construction bridge has come to light from Jharkhand. A bridge being built at a cost of about Rs 5 crore in Giridih district fell prey to the first rain of the monsoon. Due to heavy rains, the pillars of the bridge collapsed and it collapsed. People are angry over the collapse of the bridge. They allege that the bridge collapsed due to the use of substandard material because of corruption.
The construction of the bridge is going on between Dumritola and Kariphari villages of Deori police station area of the district. This bridge is being built on the Arga river at a cost of about 5 crores. Due to heavy rains on Saturday evening, the water level of the river increased, due to which the pillars of the bridge under construction collapsed in the strong current of the river and the girder broke and fell. The department is investigating the collapse of the bridge.
The girder broke with a loud noise
This bridge is being constructed by Path Nirman Vibhag, Path Pramandal Giridih. The construction work of the bridge has been given to Om Namah Shivay Construction Company. Heavy rains occurred on Saturday night, due to which a pillar of the bridge collapsed and the girder broke with a loud noise. The collapse of the bridge exposed the truth of its construction work. There was a stir in the department after the incident. Officials went to the spot and gathered information. Orders have been given to investigate the incident.
Another bridge has already collapsed
This is not the first incident of a bridge collapsing due to rain in Jharkhand. Earlier, a newly constructed bridge costing about Rs 10 crore on the Kanchi river in Bundu, the capital of Ranchi, collapsed due to rain a few years ago. Due to the collapse of the bridge, dozens of villages were cut off from communication at that time.
