Viral video claims to show tiger attack in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur, netizens ask if it’s AI-generated

A disturbing video showing a tiger attacking and dragging a man has gone viral on social media, with users widely claiming that the incident took place at the Forest Guest House in Brahmapuri, Chandrapur district, Maharashtra. The footage, which appears to be from CCTV, shows the date “31/10/2025” and time “6:42,” adding to the speculation that it is recent and real.

The video has gone viral, garnering more than 58,000 views. While some netizens were horrified after watching the video, others suspected that the video is AI-generated.

Tiger attack in Chandrapur?

One user said, “This is completely fake-AI generated. A lot of fake AI-generated wildlife videos are doing the rounds on social media.” Another wrote, “The AI movie has been made very cleanly but with some mistakes.” Yet another user added, “Wild animal ko kabhi bhi halke me nahi lena chahiye, unpredictable behaviour hota hai inka.”

Authorities have dismissed these claims. Range Forest Officer (RFO) Sachin Narad of Brahmapuri clarified that the viral video has no connection to the district. “This video is not from Brahmapuri. It is not known where it was recorded,” he said.

Officials also suspect that the clip might have been digitally fabricated, possibly using artificial intelligence. “It is suspected that this video might have been created by AI,” Narad added, warning people against spreading misinformation that could create unnecessary panic in tiger-prone areas.

The Chandrapur region, part of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve landscape, often reports tiger sightings and occasional human-wildlife conflicts, which likely fueled the viral spread of the clip.
