In terms of rail network, India is at number four in the world, but the name of the country in high-speed rail is yet to be included in the list. According to the International Union of Railways, a train with 200 km per hour or more is considered a high-speed train. The maximum technical pace of Vande Bharat Express in India is 180 km per hour but it is being run at very low speed. The first project of high-speed rail in the country is Mumbai-Ahmedabad Corridor, which is still under construction. It will take time to start, while on the other hand, China has left the world behind in this region several decades.

China has a high-speed rail network of 45,000 km, which is many times larger than any country. The trains here are not only sharp, but the network is also spread over far-flung areas. After China, Spain is second in this list, which has created a high-speed rail network of 3,966 km. Japan ranks third with 3,096 km and France is fourth with 2,800 km. After the top 10, Sweden are in the list with 860 km, Greece 672 km, Russia 650 km, Türkiye 627 km and Portugal 610 km. Uzbekistan of Central Asia is also in place in this list with 600 km network. Poland has 547 km, Saudi Arabia 450 km, Taiwan 350 km, Belgium 326 km, Austria 283 km, Norway 224 km, Morocco 186 km, Netherlands 175 km, Switzerland 164 km and Indonesia 143 km high-speed rail network.
America’s condition is also disturbed
America, which is considered a leader in technology, is far behind in this field. There is only 136 km of high-speed rail network here. Serbia is at the bottom of the list with 70 km, Denmark 60 km and Hong Kong 26 km. Experts say that the high-speed rail network gives a new direction to the connectivity and economic pace of any country. China is the biggest proof of this. At the same time, this area is still full of possibilities for India, provided the existing projects are completed on time and expand on a large scale.
