Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami transferred about Rs 11 crore through DBT to the accounts of more than 4400 workers under the schemes of Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The government laid special emphasis on labor welfare and transparency.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday released assistance amounting to about Rs 11 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the bank accounts of more than 4400 labor beneficiaries under various schemes of the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

During the program organized at the Chief Minister’s residence, the Chief Minister transferred this amount to the accounts of the beneficiaries through one click system. The benefit of this assistance amount was given to the eligible beneficiaries of Post Marriage Assistance Scheme, Post Death Assistance Scheme, Maternity Assistance Scheme and Education Assistance Scheme.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave instructions for wide publicity of labor welfare schemes.

During the program, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the officials of the Labor Department to publicize the labor welfare schemes as much as possible, so that information about these schemes can reach the eligible workers. He said that more and more registered and eligible workers should be linked to the schemes by organizing special camps in different areas of the state. Also, it should be ensured that workers do not have to face unnecessary troubles to get benefits.

Necessary materials should be made available near workplaces

The Chief Minister instructed the officials that keeping in mind the convenience of the workers, arrangements should be made for distribution of essential materials near their workplaces. He said that if facilities are provided to the beneficiaries near their workplace, then the benefits of the schemes will reach them more effectively and their participation will also increase.

Instructions to pay special attention to health check-up and education of children

Chief Minister Dhami also stressed on giving priority to the health of the workers and the welfare of their families. He directed to organize special camps for regular health check-up of workers. Along with this, he was also asked to make special efforts to promote the education of dependent children of workers. The Chief Minister also stressed on organizing camps for distribution of essential commodities, so that labor families can get additional assistance.

Emphasis on transparency and use of technology in schemes

The Chief Minister said that complete transparency should be ensured in the operation of all welfare schemes. Giving instructions to make maximum use of information technology, he said that the process of benefit distribution should be made more effective and transparent. He also directed the officials to ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach only genuine and eligible workers.

More than 24 thousand workers got benefits in one year

During the program, it was told that 24,323 workers have been benefited by Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board through various welfare schemes in the last one year. During this period, the Board has distributed a total grant amount of Rs 93 crore 6 lakh to the workers under various schemes.

Many senior officers were present in the program

On this occasion, State Advisor (Contract Board) Kailash Pant, State Vigilance Committee Chairperson Geeta Rawat, Vice Chairperson Mohini Pokharia, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar, Deputy Labor Commissioner Vipin Kumar, Assistant Labor Commissioner Shailesh Sati and senior technical expert Durga Chamoli were present. The program was conducted by Labor Commissioner Prakash Chandra Dumka.
