JNU Election Results 2025: This time the atmosphere of student politics in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was very enthusiastic. On the voting day held on 4th November, students took part in large numbers on the campus. Now today i.e. on 6th November, the counting of votes is going on and in the initial trends, Left Unity candidate Aditi Mishra has taken the lead on the post of President. Compared to him, ABVP’s Vikas Patel is running second.
Who is JNU’s Aditi Mishra?
Aditi Mishra is the President candidate of JNU Students Union (JNUSU) on behalf of Left Unity. Her campaign mainly focused on issues like student rights, gender equality and freedom of education. Aditi enjoys a lot of popularity in the campus. Aditi Mishra hails from Banaras, Uttar Pradesh and is a PhD student at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Aditi has been associated with student politics and women’s rights for a long time. She took part in the movement against girls’ hostel curfew in BHU in 2017. Later, she was also active in the fee hike and CAA protests in Pondicherry University. Currently, she is doing research on ‘Gender violence against women of Uttar Pradesh and their resistance’ in JNU and is considered to be a supporter of women’s equality, justice and progressive ideas.
Aditi Mishra’s rise to the post of President
According to the figures so far, Left Unity’s Aditi Mishra has got 1,375 votes, while ABVP’s Vikas Patel has got 1,192 votes. NSUI’s Vikash got 341 votes, BAPSA’s Raj Ratan Rajouria got 180 votes and independent candidate Angad Singh got 136 votes. Left Unity is also leading in the race for Vice President. For Vice President, K Gopika Babu (Left Unity) has so far secured 2,146 votes. After her, ABVP’s Tanya Kumari got 1,437 votes, while NSUI’s Sheikh Shahnawaz got 316 votes. In this category, 324 NOTA votes, 85 blank ballots and 32 invalid votes were recorded.
Close competition for the post of General Secretary and Joint Secretary
The contest for the post of General Secretary is very close. ABVP’s Rajeshwar Kant Dubey has got 1,496 votes, while Left Unity’s Sunil Yadav has got 1,367 votes. For the post of Joint Secretary, ABVP’s Anuj Damara got 1,494 votes and Left’s Danish Ali got 1,447 votes. There is a difference of only 47 votes between the two.
When will the final results of JNU Election 2025 come?
At present, the counting of votes is going on and it is likely that the final results will be declared by the end of the day. This time a total of 9,043 students had the right to vote in the JNU elections, out of which 67% voting was recorded. Voting took place in two phases on November 4, from 9 am to 1 pm and then from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. Students participated enthusiastically in the campus and the atmosphere was full of election enthusiasm throughout the day.
