China has offered help amid severe air pollution in Delhi. China said that it had also controlled its pollution by taking strict steps like shifting factories, banning old vehicles and using gas instead of coal.
New Delhi: The air quality in Delhi has become very bad and the government is struggling to fix it. Meanwhile, China has extended a helping hand saying ‘we will help you in this matter’. China’s Ambassador to India Yu Jing wrote on his Twitter account, ‘At one time we too were struggling with the problem of smog (smoke and fog), but now we have overcome it. We believe that India can also do this. Along with this, he also shared pictures of polluted and clean air of Beijing and Shanghai cities. It is believed that through this he has expressed his desire to help India in this matter.
What had China done?
To prevent excessive air pollution, China had taken steps like shifting factories to other places, banning old vehicles and using natural gas instead of coal. Due to this the situation there had improved to a great extent. The level of PM 2.5, which measures air pollution in Beijing, had reached 900. It was 30 times more polluted than clean air. To stop this, China closed down coal-based industries, shifted big factories to other places and laid emphasis on public transport. Drastically cut the production of iron and steel and planned to plant 3500 crore trees in 12 provinces. Completely banned the use of air polluting vehicles and increased metro rail services.
