Story of Guru Shukracharya: In the mythology of Dharma Shastra, Shukracharya has been described as the guru of demons, but Shukracharya not only has a negative image, but he has also been given a place in astrology, constellation, knowledge and Ayurveda. Actually, Guru Shukracharya was considered to be knowledgeable about the dead Sanjeevani. Maharishi Bhrigu was his father. His childhood name was Ushna. He was interested in poetry.

For this reason he was also called a poet. One of his eyes was broken. For this reason they are also called Ekaksha. It means a person with one eye. Due to the bursting of one eye, Shukracharya’s image remained negative, but there is a story behind the bursting of one of his eyes.

According to the story, King Bali and Shukracharya were performing a grand havan at a religious place. The Vaman incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the protector of the world, reached there. Lord Vaman asked for three steps of land as donation from King Bali. Demon Guru Shukracharya came to know that this Vaman was not a Brahmin but Lord Narayana himself, hence to stop King Bali from giving three steps of land to the Brahmin, Guru Shukracharya transformed himself into a subtle form. Then he went and sat on the channel of Kamandal so that the water could be stopped.

Shukracharya’s eye burst in this incident

Lord Vaman understood Shukracharya’s policy. After this he put a straw in the mouth of the vessel and pricked one of Shukracharya’s eyes. Shukracharya came out in pain due to the prick of the straw, due to which the water flowed away and King Bali fulfilled his vow of charity. Then Lord Vaman asked for three steps of land as donation from King Bali. Then he took the entire empire of Trilok including the entire earth and sky. After this, Bali was established in the underworld. In this incident, one eye of Guru Shukracharya burst and later he came to be known as Ekaksha.
