New Delhi: Onus will be on Shubman Gill for a big score when India face Australia in the fourth T20I in Carra, Gold Coast, on Thursday.
With the series locked 1-1, whoever wins the fourth win is guranteed not to lose the series. In such a match, India would look towards their star batter Gill to take them home.
In the three ODI matches and three T20Is preciding Thursday’s game, Gill has been dismissed on low scores. He is due for a big one and India would hope he delivers in this crucual game.
Gill’s opening partner Abhishek Sharma, the top-ranked T20I batter and skipper Suryakumar Yadav have looked in good touch and would look to continue in the same vein.
India would have to get theie bowling combination right even after sending Kuldeep Yadab home to prepare for the Test series against South Africa that begins in a weeks time from conclusion if the T20I series in Australia.
Seamer Arshdeep Singh seems well placed to partner Jasprit Bumrah with the new ball while Varun Chakaravarthy and all-rounder Washington Sundar could be the spin-bowling options.
No Head
Australia’s batting would largely hinge on skipper Mitchell Marsh and Tim David in the absence of Travis Head, who has been sent to play red-ball domestic cricket to prepare for the Ashes series beginning on November 21.
Head’s opening slot could go to Matthew Short but it is their bowling unit that needs a lot of reshuffling after underwhelming performances of Sean Abbott.
