In an interview to Filmfare, 79 -year -old Shekhar Kapoor reacted to ‘Barsaat’ controversy, “I never left the film. I was fired. We shot the film for 27 days. Then he got an offer of ‘Bandit Queen’ from Hollywood. Shekhar said,” I will do Bandit Queen and then return to rain. ” But Papa told him that he does not want to delete the film. And I think Rajkumar Santoshi was waiting for the direction of my film.
Bobby Deol said in ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, who was out of ‘Barsaat’ and Rajkumar Santoshi’s entry in it, said in a funny tone, “Maybe that’s why Shekhar ran away. Shekhar Kapur. Shekhar Kapoor. He was scared. But Raj (Rajkumar Santoshi) directed the film and I did not think I was ever under pressure.”
‘Barsaat’ was a super hit at the box office
‘Barsaat’ was released on 6 October 1995 and was a super hit at the box office. According to the report of Box Office India, the film was produced for about 8.25 crores, while in India it had a net collection of Rs 19.18 crore. The film had a gross collection of about Rs 34 crore at the worldwide box office.
