Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in the year 1469. His birthplace was a village called Talwandi, which is now Nankana Sahib in Pakistan. He taught people truth, hard work, equality and service. At the time when Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born, Rai Bhoi’s Talwandi was under the rule of a Muslim ruler Rai Bular. The place of worship was established where the feet of Guru Nanak Dev Ji fell.

The land where the feet of Guru Nanak Dev Ji fell is blessed today. Millions of people pay respect to him and pay obeisance to that soil with reverence. One such place is Gurudwara Bal Leela Sahib. Gurdwara Bal Leela Sahib is in Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. It is situated just a few steps away from the birth place of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This is the same holy place where Baba Nanak ji used to spend time with his companions in his childhood.
There are many important stories related to the life of Baba Nanak Ji at this holy place. At this place, Baba Nanak not only played but also gave spiritual teachings to his companions. Baba Nanak used to play such games which awakened the feeling of devotion and chanting the name. Rai Bular came to know about Baba Nanak Ji, after which he built a memorial at this place.
Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee maintains
Information is available at many places that the sixth Guru of Sikhs, Shri Hargobind Sahib had also come to this place. In the early 1800s, Maharaja Ranjit Singh gurudwara Got renovated. According to the information received, the service and maintenance of the Gurdwara is done by the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. It remains open for darshan of Sangat. Sri Guru Granth Sahib is not installed here.
