Honda took a major step into the future with the global reveal of its first full-size electric motorcycle, the Honda WN7, at the EICMA 2025 show in Milan.
Honda, which is known for its reliability and innovation, is now fully embracing the electric revolution with a bike that blends futuristic tech, thrilling performance and rider-friendly design.
The Honda WN7 isn’t just another electric motorcycle, but it represents a milestone in the brand’s long history. Honda has already tested electric mobility with smaller scooters and concepts, but the WN7 is its first full-size performance-oriented EV. Designed and built in Japan, this bike is expected to hit European markets first, where electric adoption is growing rapidly, before expanding to other regions, including Asia.
Power and Performance
At the heart of the Honda WN7 is a newly developed water-cooled electric motor that produces a strong 67 bhp and 100 Nm of torque. It is paired with a gearbox and belt-drive system, which makes the power delivery smooth and responsive, much like a traditional motorcycle, but way more quieter and cleaner.
Honda is offering the bike in two variants:
- 11 kW version for A1 licence holders (beginners)
- 18 kW version for A2 licence holders (intermediate riders)
The top model can reach speeds up to 129 km/h, while the range stands at up to 153 km per charge, which is impressive for an electric motorcycle of this size.
Battery and Charging
The WN7 gets a 9.3 kWh fixed lithium-ion battery, supporting both Type 2 and CCS2 fast charging. Honda claims it can go from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes with a fast charger or fully charge in under 2.5 hours with a regular charger.
Smart Features and Tech
Riders can choose between four modes – Standard, Sport, Rain and Econ, to suit different road conditions. It also offers regenerative braking, which allows riders to recover energy while slowing down.
The bike’s 5-inch TFT display shows all key information clearly, while features like IMU-linked cornering ABS, traction control and a Walking Speed Mode for slow forward or reverse movement, make it safe and practical for everyday use.
Design and Engineering
Built around a lightweight aluminium monocoque frame, the WN7’s battery forms part of its structure which keeps weight balanced. Suspension duties are handled by Showa USD forks and a rear monoshock, with Nissin disc brakes providing strong stopping power.
Honda’s Vision for the Future
Honda plans to produce the WN7 at its Kumamoto Factory in Japan, which also builds several global best-sellers.
For everyday riders and new bike enthusiasts, the Honda WN7 is more than just an EV. It is a glimpse into the next generation of motorcycling: silent, smart and sustainably thrilling.
