Ujjain. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Energy, Urban Development and Housing Minister Manohar Lal Khattar conducted a detailed review of the preparations for Simhastha-2028, Swachh Bharat Mission and works related to the energy sector in Ujjain. In the state level meeting held at the Collector’s office located in the Administrative Complex, the progress of the development works being done by various departments was discussed.

During the meeting, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that Simhastha-2028 will be one of the biggest religious events in the country and the world. In such a situation, all the basic arrangements like sanitation, drinking water, transport, health, safety and food should be completed on time with top priority. He instructed the officials that the preparations for the event should be of international level and the devotees should not face any kind of inconvenience.

Simhastha 2028 Preparation: Special emphasis on cleanliness and waste management

During the review of Swachh Bharat Mission, works related to solid and liquid waste management, reuse of used water and construction of toilets were reviewed in detail. The Union Minister directed to use digital mediums to make the cleanliness awareness campaign more effective in all 16 smart cities.

He said that people should be made aware of cleanliness by strengthening the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) model. Also, after surveying the actual need of individual and community toilets, proposals should be sent as per the demand. Special attention was also asked to be paid to the maintenance and regular cleaning of community toilets.

IIM Indore MoU: Agreement between IIM Indore, IIM Nagpur and Urban Development Department

During the meeting, an important MoU was signed between IIM Indore, Department of Urban Development and IIM Nagpur in the presence of Union Minister Khattar. The objective of this agreement is to promote better research, training and innovation in various areas related to urban development.

CM Mohan Yadav Statement: Center and state are doing development together

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is moving rapidly on the path of development. Madhya Pradesh government is also speeding up the development works by establishing coordination with all the departments. He said that for the first time after independence, a Union Minister is coming to Ujjain and reviewing the development works of the state on such a comprehensive level. With this, the state is getting better guidance and the implementation of the schemes will speed up.

Shipra River Project: Preparations to provide clean water to devotees

The Chief Minister also informed about the ongoing projects to provide clean water to the devotees during Simhastha. He informed the Union Minister about the progress of Kanh Close Duct Diversion Project and Silarkhedi-Sevarkhedi Project. It was told that to keep Shipra river pollution free, work is being done at a fast pace on Kanh Close Duct Diversion Project at a cost of Rs 919 crore. Through this, contaminated water will be prevented from entering the river.

Ujjain Development Projects: Development works worth more than Rs 25 thousand crores

It was informed in the meeting that about 40 crore devotees are likely to come during Simhastha-2028. In view of this, various development works costing more than Rs 25 thousand crore are being carried out in Ujjain and surrounding districts. These projects include construction of roads, bridges, new ferries, expansion of city infrastructure and development of transport facilities. All works are being completed in a time bound manner to provide better facilities to the devotees during Simhastha.

Ujjain Connectivity Project: Ujjain’s connectivity will become stronger

Work is going on on many big road projects to better connect Ujjain with other parts of the country. These include construction of Ujjain-Indore six-lane road at a cost of Rs 1,692 crore, Ujjain-Indore Greenfield Corridor at a cost of Rs 2,935 crore, Ujjain-Jawara four-lane road at a cost of Rs 5,017 crore, Ujjain-Jhalawar four-lane road at a cost of Rs 2,523 crore and Ujjain-Maksi four-lane road at a cost of Rs 351 crore. Is. Apart from this, the work of widening and upgrading of internal roads of the city is also being done at a rapid pace.

New Bridges and Parking: 22 new bridges and 30 parking centers will be built.

As part of the preparations for Simhastha, more than 22 new bridges are being constructed. Apart from this, 5 railway overbridges and 17 river bridges are also being constructed. A modern digital command platform will be developed for crowd management, traffic control and dealing with emergency situations. 30 parking centers will be built in an area of ​​about 3 thousand hectares. Arrangements for parking and holding areas will also be made in the surrounding districts.

Drinking Water Scheme: Water Augmentation Scheme worth Rs 1133 crore

To strengthen the drinking water system of Ujjain city, work is being done on water augmentation scheme at a cost of Rs 1,133 crore. Under this, a water purification plant of 200 MLD capacity will be established. Besides, more than 700 kilometers of pipeline network, 17 new overhead tanks and about 49 thousand new drinking water connections will be provided.

Green Simhastha 2028: Preparation for zero waste and green Simhastha

The state government is working towards making Simhastha-2028 a zero waste and environment friendly event. For this, it is proposed to set up a solar power plant of 20 MW capacity. This project is expected to produce approximately 3.2 crore units of electricity every year. Apart from this, a modern medical college with 550 beds and its related facilities is also being constructed in Ujjain. At the same time, the construction work of IT Park at a cost of Rs 46 crore is also progressing rapidly.

MP Energy Review: Reforms in energy sector and promotion of solar energy

The Department of Energy and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) were also reviewed in the meeting. Officials said that continuous reforms are being made to strengthen the power distribution system in the state. While AT&C loss was 41.55 percent in the year 2020-21, it has come down to 25.68 percent in the year 2025-26.

Union Minister Khattar gave instructions to provide maximum connections under PM Surya Ghar Yojana. He said that efforts should be made to connect farmers with energy production through Kusum Yojana so that farmers can become food providers as well as energy providers. He also stressed on promoting wind energy projects along with solar energy. The Minister said that around 230 MW power will be required during Simhastha-2028, hence development of new power infrastructure is being done at a rapid pace.
