Indian Weapons in World: After independence, India made great progress in the defense sector. Today our BrahMos missile is considered one of the most powerful cruise missiles. It is in demand from the Philippines to Brazil.
15 August 2025: India will celebrate 79th Independence Day on 15 August 2025. After gaining independence from the British rule on 15 August 1947, India has made sharp progress in every region. It also includes our defense sector. Today we are the major strength of the world in terms of missiles. We have all kinds of missiles from ballistic to cruise. Talking about the most special among them, the place of BrahMos comes in the upper order.
It destroyed Pakistan’s airbase during Operation Sindoor in May. BrahMos was already counting the world among the best cruise missiles. In Operation Sindoor, it showed its strength and forced the enemy to tremble.
Why is BrahMos special?
- BrahMos has been developed by India and Russia together. It is a supersonic cruise missile.
- It is very difficult to see BrahMos from the radar and stop from the air defense system due to very high speed and flying at low height. When India used BrahMos missiles against Pakistan in May, it had no arrangement to escape.
- The BrahMos missile has a thickness of 0.67 meters and the length is 8.0–8.2 meters.
- At the time of launch it weighs 2200-3000kg (according to variant). It takes 200-300kg explosives with it.
- The range of BrahMos was 290km in the beginning. It has been increased to 500km.
- The speed of BrahMos is 2469-3457km/H. Due to such a high speed and cruise missile, it is very difficult to avoid it.
- BrahMos is equipped with stealth technology. It is designed to appear less than radar.
- BrahMos attacks a very accurate attack. It uses INS (Inrtial Navigation System) and GPS (Global Positioning System) to reach its target.
What are the barrants of BrahMos?
Launch from the ground- The BrahMos missile to be launched from the ground is placed in the launcher on the truck. With this, they can be deployed fast. They can be used against the target present in the land and the sea. It can target the warship.
Air launch- You can also launch BrahMos with air. It can currently be fired with only Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft. This version of BrahMos was used in the attack against Pakistan. With this, India’s aircraft could attack without crossing the border.
Submarine launch- You can also launch BrahMos from submarine who attacks under water. From this, they can be used against enemy ships and ground bases.
Ship launch– You can also launch BrahMos with a warship.
How will BrahMos missile be in future?
Work is going on on the hypersonic version of BrahMos. It is named BrahMos-II. It will be replaced by a scumjet engine instead of the Ramjet engine. Its speed will be from 6000km/h to 8643. Due to such a high speed, it will not even give an enemy a chance to escape.
