Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, was born on the full moon day of Kartik month in a village called Talwandi of Rai Bhoye in Punjab, which is now a part of Pakistan and now that holy place is known as Nankana Sahib. He gave the message of equality, love and compassion to all the people. Guru ji gave many sermons to eliminate discrimination based on caste, religion and society and showed everyone the path of humanity. This holy day of Guru Parva is celebrated with enthusiasm and devotion across the country. On the day of Guru Parva, city kirtans are organized at various places and langar is organized.
