With the Triber, Renault introduced the concept of owning a 7-seater at under Rs 7 lakh. Not just that, Triber is a sub-4-meter 7-seater, making it a practical people mover even for urban conditions as well. This unique offering from Triber is expected to improve with the upcoming update. What all changes can we expect from the upcoming update?

With the recent facelift, the Triber’s exterior has been refreshed. Retaining the overall silhouette of the car remains the same. But changes have been made to the front fascia with a new front grille, projector headlights and LED DRLs. Some changes were also made to the taillamps to give them a fresher overall look. What about the features?

Interior & Features-

The cleverly packed 3-row seating got some new features, including the first-in-class automatic climate control, a dual-tone dashboard, a fully folding 2nd row for additional boot space, and much more. Other features include a 7-inch driver’s display, wireless charging, a cooled glovebox, and cruise control. All the above offerings are expected to remain unchanged with the upcoming update as well. Currently, the Triber gets a 4-star safety rating from the Global NCAP. But there’s a chance Renault might offer the newer RGEP platform with the Triber update. Which would further enhance the Triber’s safety. What exactly is to be changed?

Powertrain-

The Renault Triber, currently on sale, features a 1.0-litre NA Petrol engine producing 71bhp and 96Nm. Mated with the 5-speed manual and AMT Transmission. Renault dealers offer a retrofitted CNG kit with the Triber. Yes, it still misses the factory-fitted CNG after years of being on sale. But with the update, Renault is expected to offer something better. The new RGEP platform showcased by the automaker is capable of under-floor dual-cylinder CNG. This upgrade will unlock a whole lot of boot space when compared to the traditional retrofitted CNG kit. Another interesting thing to watch out for is that finally Renault might bring in the Turbo with the 1.0-litre. Like the one seen on the Kiger producing 100bhp and 160Nm.

Rivals-

No doubt the major rival to the Renault Triber CNG will be the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. But from the last few months, there is another rival in the market with the same mechanical specs, just a different brand, yes, the Nissan Gravite.

Expected Launch & Pricing-

As the RGEP platform has already been showcased, we can expect it to be offered with the Triber by the end of 2026 or early 2027. With the introduction of the newer platform, Triber is expected to see a price increase of about Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000. Currently, the Triber is priced between Rs 6.81 lakh and Rs 10.15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With the updates, this affordable 7-seater is expected to be priced between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 10.75 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
