In a recent viral video, staff at the Pitampura-based diner were seen placing two signs outside the premises. One sign explicitly states that sarees, suits and other traditional Indian outfits are allowed inside. The second notice lists other policies, including restrictions on outside food and liquor, as well as the management’s right to refuse service in certain cases.

Many social media users reacted to the new signage, saying the owners had learned their lesson. “Better to paste the notice than be shut down,” one comment read. Another remarked, “The owner finally understood,” while a third noted, “The power of social media has worked.”
Incident that sparked the controversy
The row began last week when a couple claimed they were stopped at the restaurant entrance. The man was wearing a T-shirt and trousers, while the woman wore a kurta-salwar. According to them, the manager misbehaved and refused them entry, allegedly citing their “Indian” attire as the reason. The video of the confrontation quickly went viral.

Following the outcry, Delhi cabinet minister Kapil Mishra said Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had been informed about the matter. He later announced that the restaurant had agreed not to impose any dress-based restrictions in the future. Mishra also stated that on Rakshabandhan, the diner would offer discounts to women visiting in Indian attire.
Restaurant owner Neeraj Aggarwal has denied the allegations, saying the couple was turned away because they had not booked a table, not due to their clothes. He stressed that the restaurant has no dress code and welcomes all customers.
