ICC Action Ind vs Pak Asia Cup 2025: ICC showed strictness on the controversial gestures and behavior of players in the India-Pakistan matches of Asia Cup. Haris Rauf, Suryakumar Yadav and Sahibzada Farhan got punishment, while separate decisions were given in Bumrah-Arshdeep cases.
Haris Rauf Banned: ICC has taken major action on the Asia Cup matches between India and Pakistan. Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf has been banned for two matches, while Team India’s star batsman Suryakumar Yadav has been fined 30% of his match fee and two demerit points. ICC’s Elite Panel of Match Referees gave this decision after hearing the incidents of IND vs PAK matches held on 14, 21 and 28 September.

ICC took action against Indian Captain Suryakumar Yadav for violation of Article 2.21 (Conduct bringing game into disrepute), 30% fine and 2 demerit points, Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan was warned for gun celebration and 1 demerit point, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf took action of 30% fine and 2 demerit points for violation of Article 2.21.
Clean chit to Arshdeep, action against Bumrah-Rauf
In this match, no evidence of indiscipline was found against India’s Arshdeep Singh, due to which he got a clean chit. In the final match between India and Pakistan on 28 September, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was warned and given 1 demerit point for copying Rauf’s jet gesture and Haris Rauf was found guilty again and action of 30% fine, 2 demerit points was taken on him.
Controversy increases over Haris Rauf’s plane gesture
Haris Rauf was in the headlines many times during the Asia Cup. When the Indian fans chanted Kohli-Kohli, Rauf responded by making a ‘6-0’ gesture, which was reminiscent of Virat Kohli’s two sixes in the 2022 T20 World Cup. After this he made a plane gesture, which was considered a political signal against India on social media. After this video went viral, ICC started investigation against Rauf under Code of Conduct Article 2.21.
Sahibzada Farhan’s gun celebration becomes controversy
Pakistan’s opener Sahibzada Farhan made a gun-like gesture to fire the shot after completing his fifty against India. While some fans called it celebratory, many called it insensitive and provocative. The ICC considered it unsupportive behavior and warned him and gave him one demerit point.
Controversy over Suryakumar Yadav not doing handshake
After India’s victory, Suryakumar Yadav and some teammates refused to shake hands with Pakistani players. Pakistani players kept waiting standing on the boundary line, but the Indian team returned straight to the dressing room. Suryakumar was accused of making political statements and insensitive attitude, due to which he was fined 30% and two demerit points.
Jasprit Bumrah’s counter jet gesture
In the Asia Cup final, Bumrah made a fighter-jet like gesture after dismissing Rauf, which was an imitation of Rauf’s airplane move. Although he called it humorous, the ICC considered it ‘conduct that brings the game into disrepute’ and warned him.
Clean chit to Arthdeep Singh
There was an uproar on social media regarding a gesture by Arshdeep Singh in the Super 4 match. Many users considered this to be a hint towards Rauf, but in the ICC investigation, Arshdeep was found innocent and he has been given a clean chit.
