Unique treasure of gold found in the repair of the temple!

But, recently during the repair of a temple in Tamil Nadu, everyone was surprised to find a treasure of gold.

Kovilur’s gold treasure

A treasure of gold has been found during the renovation of a Shiva temple in Kovilur, Tamil Nadu. During the repair work of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, 103 old gold coins were found buried in an earthen pot. This unique discovery took place on 3 November. Around 103 gold coins were found in an earthen pot during construction work on Monday, a senior police officer at Polur police station told PTI.

as old as the Chola period

The temple is believed to be several centuries old and was built during the reign of the Chola king Rajaraja Chola III. Police said that officials of the Revenue Department and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department have been informed about this and they are trying to find out the history of the coins.
