VIP’s Santosh Sahni has withdrawn his candidature from Goudaboram seat. He has supported RJD candidate Afzal Ali. Party chief Mukesh Sahni has called it a big sacrifice for social justice.
Just before the voting for the first phase of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, a major political upheaval has been seen in the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). Santosh Sahni, brother of party chief Mukesh Sahni, has announced not to contest elections from Gaudabauram assembly seat of Darbhanga district. Along with this, he has announced to support RJD candidate Afzal Ali. This decision has not only shaken the local politics, but has also started the discussion of new equations within the Grand Alliance.
Big goal, big sacrifice – Mukesh Sahni’s statement
Mukesh Sahni issued a statement saying, “The fight for change and the establishment of social justice is not easy. Sometimes big sacrifices have to be made for our bigger goals. VIP National President Mr. Santosh Sahni has decided to make a big sacrifice in the interest of Gauda Bauram and a better Bihar.”
He further said that this decision is a symbol of Bihar’s bright future and resolve for social justice. Sahni gave a clear message that his aim is not to gain power, but to provide rights to the deprived sections of the society.
Support to RJD candidate Afzal Ali
The VIP chief said in his statement that now the party will support Grand Alliance candidate Afzal Ali on the Goudaboram seat. He said, “Our objective is clear. The torch of change must keep burning. Every voice that talks about equality, respect and rights must be strong.” With this support, the position of the Grand Alliance is considered strong in Gowda Bauram, while this decision has created a stir in the opposition camp.
Political impact and change in equations
Political experts say that Santosh Sahni’s withdrawal from the election field will strengthen the coordination between VIP and RJD. While on one hand there is a possibility of VIP’s Nishad vote bank being transferred in favor of RJD, on the other hand this move will also reduce the possibility of vote sharing on the seat.
