Gorakhpur Flyover Update: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected the construction of the first six-lane flyover being built in Gorakhpur and expressed displeasure over the slow progress. He warned the officials and directed them to complete the work within the stipulated time.
Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected the construction work of Gorakhpur’s first six-lane flyover being built on the TP Nagar Chowk to Padleganj road on Tuesday evening. During this, he saw the progress of construction near pillars number 62-63 and 18-19 of the flyover. Seeing the pace of work slower than expected, CM Yogi expressed his displeasure and reprimanded the officials of the executive body. He said that after the end of monsoon the weather was absolutely favorable for work, yet the construction did not pick up pace. CM questioned why this was not paid attention to. The officials did not have any clear answer, on which the CM said in a warning tone that the work should be completed within the stipulated time by increasing resources, manpower and machines.
Sixlane flyover being built at a cost of Rs 429 crore
CM Yogi reached Gorakhpur on Tuesday evening after campaigning for BJP candidates in Bihar Assembly elections. He first reached Azad Chowk on Canal Road and stopped near pillar number 62-63 to inquire about the latest status of the flyover. This flyover is being built at a cost of Rs 429 crore 49 lakh. Its construction began in February 2023 and is targeted to be completed by January 2026. Officials of the executing agency Uttar Pradesh Setu Nigam Limited said that more than 72% physical progress of this 2.6 kilometer long and 77 pillar flyover has been made. CM Yogi said in a strict tone that the work should be completed within the stipulated time limit. He also directed that while laying the slab on the pillar, all safety and security measures should be taken care of.
Instructions to beautify and prevent waterlogging under the flyover
During the inspection near Pillar No. 18-19, the Chief Minister said that there should be adequate lighting arrangements on the flyover and the service road below it. He directed that the empty space under the pillar should be beautified on the lines of Ayodhya. The CM also said that the slope of the roads should be kept towards the drain so that water can flow easily. To prevent garbage from entering the drains, nets should be installed at various places. He ordered that the work of laying slabs on drains and drains on both sides under the flyover should be completed within a month. Also, asked to pay special attention to the alignment of service roads and drains so that water logging does not occur under any circumstances.
Slab work completed on 55 pillars
CM Yogi also saw the drawing map of the flyover and took information about the work of the slab. Bridge Corporation officials said that slabs have been laid on 55 out of 77 pillars and work on the remaining pillars will also be completed by January 2026. During the inspection, the Chief Minister also took stock of the condition of drains on both sides of the road. On this occasion, Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava, MLA Vipin Singh, BJP Metropolitan Convener Rajesh Gupta along with officials of Administration, Police, Bridge Corporation, Public Works Department, Municipal Corporation and GDA were present.
