guru nanak ji true deal
True deal Guru Nanak Dev ji: Punjabi singer Kanwar Grewal sings in his song, “Those whom you see…are seen through someone else’s eyes….” These lines fit perfectly on the incident which made the real deal. Bebe Nanak (sister of Guru Nanak ji) knew the king as Akal Purakh. On the other hand, father Mehta Kalu ji considered Baba Nanak Sahib to be an ordinary child. He used to get angry after listening to the divine knowledge of Guru Nanak Ji. Father did not have the eyes that could see Akal Purukh like sister Nanaki could.
According to Sikh historians, when Guru Nanak was about 15-16 years old, like any normal father, Satguru Ji’s father Mehta Kalu Ji also had the idea of making his son a businessman. He thought why not give some money to Nanak ji and employ him on some work.
Father gave 20 rupees to Guru Nanak Ji
Guru Nanak ji’s father Mehta Kalu ji gave twenty rupees to Nanak ji and said, “Go and do a good deal, that is, do good business.” Baba ji went to Churahkana (present Farrukhabad) with his companions to do business. When Guru Ji was going on business, he met a group of saints on the way. The saints told that they were hungry for many days. He asked for help from the king.
Satguru made a big deal
Guru Nanak ji decided to help the saints with the money he received from his father. Nanak ji took out money from his pocket and started giving it to the saints. Seeing this the saints said that they do not want money, rather they are hungry. They need food to satisfy their hunger. With the help of his friends, the king brought food from that money and served it to the saints. Satguru Nanak called it Sacha Sauda (Khar Sauda).
Gurdwara Sacha Sauda Sahib is now situated at the site of this incident, where devotees from India and abroad come every day to pay obeisance.
