Vantara Clean Chit Report: CITES gave clean chit to Anant Ambani’s Vantara project based in Jamnagar, saying that it is one of the best wildlife conservation models in the world. The animal rescue and medical facilities here are of international standard.
Vantara CITES Report: CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora), an organization that monitors the protection of wildlife around the world, has given a clean chit to the Vantara Project located in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Not only this, the organization has praised its excellent management and conservation work. CITES has said in its report that Vantara and its two associated institutions, Green Zoological Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (GZRRC) and Radha Krishna Temple Elephant Welfare Trust (RKTEWT) are working as per international standards.
5-star rescue center built for animals
According to the CITES investigation report, Jamnagar’s Vantara Center is no less than any modern wildlife facility. Modern enclosures, advanced medical care and state-of-the-art rehabilitation facilities are available for animals here. The report said that many important milestones in veterinary science have been achieved here, which are now recommended to be shared with the global scientific community.
India’s wildlife regulation also appreciated
CITES recognized that India’s wildlife protection and regulatory framework now meets international standards. The report clearly stated that India has kept all the animal import processes done by GZRRC and RKTEWT completely legal and transparent.
What did the CITES investigation reveal?
The investigation found that all the animals were brought to India under valid CITES export or re-export permits. No animal was brought without authorization. No commercial intent (e.g. horse trading) was found and most importantly the chimpanzee importation process from Cameroon was canceled due to lack of transparency in documentation. This shows that Anant Ambani’s Vantara and its associated organizations are working on the policy of ‘Conservation First’.
Now India’s project will become a global model
CITES has described Vantara as the new international benchmark for wildlife conservation. It can become a model center not just for India but for the entire world. Earlier the Supreme Court of India had also given a clean chit to Vantara and now the CITES report has further strengthened that decision.
