Guru Nanak Jayanti 2025 History And Significance: Guru Nanak Jayanti is considered a very special and important festival of Sikh religion. People also know it as Guru Parv and Guru Nanak Prakash Parv. The festival of Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated in the memory of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the founder and first Guru of Sikhism. For the people of the Sikh community, this Guru festival is a symbol of faith and devotion.

When is Guru Nanak Jayanti? (Guru Nanak Jayanti 2025)
According to the calendar, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev is celebrated every year on the full moon date of Kartik month which falls between October and November. This year, the full moon date of Kartik month is starting tonight at 10.36 pm. This date will end tomorrow i.e. on 5th November at 6.48 pm. In such a situation, this year the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev will be celebrated on 5th November i.e. tomorrow.
History and Significance of Guru Nanak Jayanti
Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary is the most sacred festival of Sikhs. This day is not only a celebration of the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev, but it is also an opportunity to adopt all his life philosophies like speaking the truth, practicing equality and selfless service in life. Preparations for Guru Nanak Jayanti start two days in advance. Ankhad Path is held for 48 hours in Gurudwaras. The sacred words of Guru Granth Sahib are heard in every direction.
Before the festival, a kirtan takes place in the city. Tableaux are decorated. On the morning of Guru Parva, a sacred procession called Prabhat Pheri takes place. During that time all the devotees sing kirtan while offering prayers. Langar service is run throughout the day on Guru Nalak Jayanti. Guru Nanak Dev Ji had given the message of equality, service and love. He opposed social evils and tried to remove them. On the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, his teachings are shared among the people. Therefore Guru Nanak Jayanti is known as Prakash Parv.
