The victim’s mother alleged that while moving towards Nabanna, the police lathi -charged, causing serious injuries to her head. He said that why are we being stopped? We only want to go to the secretariat to ask for justice for our daughter.

March stopped despite court permission
The victim’s father alleged that despite getting permission from the court, the police prevented her from joining the march. He said that this is an attempt to suppress the demand for justice from the government.
A case of shocking country
Last year, the incident of gang rape and murder with a young doctor at RG Kar Hospital shook the entire country. Doctors had strike and demonstrations across the country. In January this year, Civic Volunteer Sanjay Roy was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. The CBI inquiry took place on the High Court investigation in this case. However, initially the CBI pointed to the gang rape, but after a long investigation, the Central Investigation Agency also filed a charge sheet against the only accused, confirming the investigation report of the Kolkata Police.

Dissatisfaction over CBI investigation
The victim’s parents believe that many important aspects have been missed in the investigation. Recently, he met CBI chief Praveen Sood in Delhi and expressed his displeasure and demanded a deep investigation into the case.
Tight security before reaching Nabanna
Police had deployed heavy security on Nabanna routes in Kolkata and Howrah. It was estimated that a large number of people would attend the rally, due to which barricades were installed everywhere.
