Which pensioners cannot submit digital life certificate?

digital life certificate

Every year the month of November is very important for pensioners. In this month, all the people taking government pension have to prove that they are alive so that their pension continues to be received without interruption. Earlier this process had to be done by going to bank or office, but now the Government of India has made it digital. This facility is called Digital Life Certificate (DLC) or ‘Jeevan Pramaan’.

How does Digital Life Certificate work?

Digital Life Certificate is a biometric system based on Aadhaar. That is, the pensioner has to prove his identity through fingerprints or eye scanning. Once successful authentication with Aadhaar is done, the life certificate is automatically generated online and stored securely on the government’s ‘Jeevan Pramaan’ website.

After this process, an SMS comes on the pensioner’s mobile, in which Jeevan Pramaan ID is given. With the help of this ID, any person can download the PDF copy of that certificate.

Which pensioners cannot submit Digital Life Certificate?

Now the most important question is which pensioners cannot submit Digital Life Certificate? Actually, the Jeevan Pramaan system assumes that the pensioner is neither re-employed nor re-married. But if a pensioner has rejoined the job or remarried, there may be a change in his pension eligibility or amount.

In such cases, the digital system cannot automatically capture this change, hence these pensioners have to submit the life certificate manually i.e. offline by going to their pension disbursement office or bank. Along with this, they may also have to provide additional documents so that the correct information about their new status can be updated.

Required documents and information

Before making a digital life certificate, you should have some information like mobile number, PPO number, bank account number, name of Pension Disbursing Authority (PDA) and Pension Sanctioning Authority (PSA). Apart from this, biometric authentication (fingerprint or eye-scan) linked to Aadhaar is mandatory.

What to do if life certificate is rejected?

Many times information is received through SMS that the life certificate has been rejected. This means that either wrong information has been given or there has been a problem in biometric authentication. There is no need to panic in such a situation. Simply contact your Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA) and generate a new digital life certificate with the correct information.
