Rail tickets will be available cheaply
Indian Railways has started a new scheme called Round Trip Package for Festival Rush for the convenience of passengers in the festive season. This scheme has been started under the leadership of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Keeping this decision on festivals like Holi, Diwali, Chhath, keeping in mind the rush at railway stations. Under this scheme, there will be a 20 percent discount on round package ie fare for movement. How to get this discount? How long will you get and most importantly what is the condition for this. Let’s understand all in details.
Under this scheme, booking of tickets under this scheme will get a discount of 20% on the base fare of the return ticket. For example, if a passenger is going from Delhi to Chhath to a district of Bihar or Purvanchal and he has booked his ticket from Delhi between October 13 to October 26, 2025 and a return ticket from home between 17 November to 1 December 2025, he will get the benefit. The exemption of 20 percent will be given on the base fare of its return ticket. If the ticket is worth 1000 rupees, then only 800 rupees will have to be paid.
Some important things related to the scheme
- The same name and station pair- In this, both tickets should be from the same passenger’s name and the same station pair i.e. Delhi-Patna-Delhi.
- Booking process- The ticket for the first arrival will have to book, then book a return ticket through the connecting journey feature. The Advanced Reservation Period (ARP) will not be applicable for the return ticket. That is, tickets will not be booked long before the journey.
- Confirmed ticket compulsory- Both tickets should be confirmed to come and go. There will be no discount on waiting or RAC tickets.
- No change or refund- No amendment in the ticket like name, date, class will not be changed. Apart from this, there will be no refund facility.
- Booking medium- Both tickets will have to be booked through the same means. Meaning a ticket can not be booked online and a ticket offline.
- The remaining discount will not be available- Under the Round Trip Package for Festival Rush Scheme, there will be no benefit of railway pass, PTO, voucher or other discounts.
Which trains will get facility
The Railway Ministry has made it clear that the round trip package for festival will not benefit on the ticket of all trains. It will be facilitated on Spiler, AC and Special trains. However, trains with Flexi Fair such as Rajdhani, and Shatabdi Express are excluded from the scheme.
Scheme purpose
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this scheme will help reduce the crowd in trains during festivals. For example, in Deepawali and Chhath, millions of people go to their village and city, due to which trains are filled. People will book tickets in advance with this scheme, which will make it easier for the railways to manage the crowd and run special trains. Railways is promoting it through announcement, news, media and social media at stations so that more and more people can take advantage of it.
