New Delhi: Manchester United have unveiled a new world-class training complex on Friday, which will help the club to return to the top of European football. A £50m revamp of the club’s Carrington training base has been completed just in time for the start of the new Premier League season as the Red Devils aim to bounce back after the worst campaign in the modern era.
Ruben Amorim’s side finished 15th on the Premier League table last season, amassing just 42 points and losing 18 matches. The club also failed to qualify for any European competition next season. The technology and equipment have been upgraded throughout the training centre, with a focus on players’ fitness, nutrition, recovery and team unity. The new training facility is designed by taking input from players and staff.
The minority owner of the club, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, cut the ribbon on the building for the men’s team after Sir Alex Ferguson revealed a plaque to the long-serving club receptionist Kath Phipps, who died last year. The full Manchester United squad, along with the coaching staff, the chief executive, Omar Berrada, and the director of football, Jason Wilcox, attended the ceremony.
After Cristiano Ronaldo returned to United in 2021, he talked about the lack of change at Carrington in the 12 years since he had left, saying it “stopped in time” and this was accepted within the club that the training facilities and ground had fallen behind those of Premier League rivals and Ratcliffe identified it as an area to improve.
Diogo Dalot talked about the new Carrington and said that there’s going to be no excuses, and the thing that will define them is their performances on the pitch.
“I think what is going to bring joy to the fans, joy to ourselves is winning games. We’re getting all the conditions to put us in the best position to win. And then we just have to make that final step,” Dalot added.

‘I hope it helps take Manchester United where Manchester United needs to go’: Sir Jim Ratcliffe
Sir Jim Ratcliffe said that he hopes the new Carrington helps take Manchester United where Manchester United needs to go and the club has to compete at the highest level.
“That’s appropriate to the brand and the size and the history of the club. So whilst a world-class training facility won’t take us to that place alone, it is one of the key ingredients in the modern world,” he added.
