Ranikarnavati Raksha Bandhan: Rakshabandhan is not only a festival of brother-sister relationship, but it is also a symbol of the word of faith, respect and defense. The land of Rajasthan gave this festival a historical and immortal story, which people still remember proudly. This is the story of Rani Karnavati, Veerangana of Mewar and Mughal emperor Humayun. In the year 1530, Rani Karnavati was holding the throne of Mewar after Rana Sanga’s death. Then Sultan Bahadur Shah of Gujarat climbed Chittor. The army of Mewar was weak in number and resources. The situation was so serious that it seemed almost impossible to save the state.
When Rani Karnavati sent a rakhi to Humayun
In bad conditions, Rani Karnavati took a adventure and unique step. He sent a rakhi to the Mughal emperor Humayun, not just a thread, but a request to his brother to protect himself. Rakhi in Indian culture means trust and security, and the queen expressed confidence to Humayun. When Humayun got this rakhi, he was deeply impressed. He considered it not just a political message, but a call for the sacred relationship between siblings. He immediately prepared his army to help Mewar. However, he could not arrive on time and Bahadur Shah captured Chittor.
Humayun won Chittor and handed over to sister
- Rani Karnavati, along with other Rajput queens to save the dignity of Chittor. But Humayun did not give up. He defeated Bahadur Shah and won Chittor back and handed over the kingdom to the sons of the queen.
- This incident became the most unique example of Rakshabandhan not only in the history of Rajasthan, but in the whole of India. This proves that the thread of Rakhi is not only a symbol of courage, sacrifice and unwavering belief, not only a decoration tied on the wrist.
