It’s been a scintillating start to Wimbledon, with many big-name casualties having already fallen across both the men’s and women’s draws. The likes of Daniil Medvedev, Lorenzo Musetti, Coco Gauff and Qinwen Zheng were defeated in their opening matches, leaving the competition wide open and increasing the chance of a surprise winner.
Pre-tournament title favourites Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka, who are both in action today on day three, will be hoping to avoid falling early too. Alcaraz didn’t have it easy against veteran Fabio Fognini in his opener, and his reward is a meeting against British debutant Oliver Tarvet, who defeated Leandro Riedi in straight sets.
