The Indian women’s cricket team has recently created history by winning its first Women’s ODI World Cup title under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur. In the final match played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, India defeated South Africa by 52 runs. This win came after reaching the finals in 2005 and 2017, when the team had missed out on winning the title. In honor of this historic achievement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a reward of Rs 51 crore for the women’s team. This amount is more than the Rs 39.78 crore (US$ 4.48 million) given by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to the World Cup winning team. watch video
