Dead Voters, Duplicate Names Found In First Draft Voter List In Jamui; EC Under Fire

Bihar SIR: After the release of the Bihar Voter List Draft 2025, shocking irregularities have surfaced from various parts of the state. Reports reveal that names of deceased individuals and duplicate entries have found their way into the draft voter list in some cases, allegedly verified and approved by booth-level officers (BLOs).

In several instances, even those who died years ago appear to have “submitted” revision forms, which BLOs cleared for inclusion. As a result, the names of the dead are now officially part of the draft voter roll. Cases of double entries have also been reported from multiple polling stations.

Bihar SIR: Complaints Raised In Jamui

The issue has been flagged from different polling booths in the Jamui Assembly constituency. CPIML youth leader Babu Saheb Singh formally raised the matter before Election Commission special observer Bharat Kheda during his recent visit to Jamui.

Following the complaints, Kheda assured that the names of deceased and duplicate voters would be removed after verification of objections. However, he did not indicate any punitive action against the officials responsible. BLOs in the area have shifted the blame to the family members of the deceased, claiming they submitted incorrect forms.

The revelations come shortly after Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, accused the BJP and the Election Commission of executing what he described as a “vote chori model” (vote theft model). On Thursday, Gandhi presented his claims, which the Congress party said explained “how elections are being rigged,” as quoted by PTI.
