Why is Dev Diwali celebrated?
Dev Deepawali is also called Diwali of the Gods, because it is believed that on this day all the Gods and Goddesses come to earth and celebrate the festival. There is a religious belief that on this day Lord Shiva saved the universe by killing the demon Tripurasura and in that joy all the gods appeared in Kashi. Since then Dev Diwali is celebrated with great pomp in Varanasi.
