Rangareddy. A heartbreaking news has come out from Rangareddy district of Telangana. On Monday morning, there was a massive collision between a ballast-laden truck (dumper) and a Telangana Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus on the Hyderabad-Bijapur National Highway. The collision was so severe that the ballast loaded in the truck fell on the entire bus. More than 70 passengers, mostly college students, were trapped inside the bus. So far, 20 people have been confirmed dead and many injured.

How did the accident happen? Was it really only the driver’s fault?
According to the police, the accident happened near Khanpur Gate of Chevella police station area. The truck was coming from the wrong direction and was at high speed. As soon as he turned the turn, there was a direct collision with the bus. After the collision, the truck overturned and its ballast fell on the bus. The front part of the bus was completely collapsed.
People present at the spot say that both the vehicles were at speed and the drivers lost control at the turn. The driver’s side of the bus was completely shattered. Many passengers got buried on the spot and kept screaming, while some people were taken out by local villagers with the help of JCB.
Rescue operation: Police and villagers together carried out rescue operation
As soon as information about the accident was received, police and rescue teams reached the spot. Ballast was removed from JCB machines and passengers were taken out. About 15 people were rescued alive, while 8 are seriously injured. He has been admitted to the nearest government hospital. The condition of many injured is still said to be critical.

CM Revanth Reddy expressed grief, directed officials to reach the spot
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed deep grief over the accident. CMO said that the Chief Minister has ordered the Chief Secretary and DGP to reach the spot immediately. Besides, instructions have been given to shift the injured to big hospitals of Hyderabad and make arrangements for better treatment. CM said that all possible help will be given to the injured. He also directed that ambulances, doctors and medical teams should be deployed on the spot so that no one dies.
Heavy jam on Hyderabad-Bijapur highway, traffic diverted
After this tragic accident, there was a huge traffic jam on the Hyderabad-Bijapur National Highway. Traffic has been diverted on Chevella-Vikarabad route. The police is continuously busy in removing the debris so that the traffic can be restored soon.

Initial police investigation has revealed that both the vehicles were at high speed. According to passengers on board the bus, the truck was coming from the wrong direction and the driver lost control at the turn. This was the reason why the bus and truck collided head-on. Police are now investigating from the angle of negligence of drivers and speed limit violation.
