The Indian women’s team created history at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was looking very emotional after winning the title. After the match, he said that he has made a big revelation regarding making Shefali Verma bowl.
What did the Indian captain say?
Captain of Team India after winning the title Harmanpreet Kaur Said, “This is the beginning. We wanted to break this barrier. Our next plan is to make it a habit. We have been waiting for this, now this moment has come. There are many big opportunities coming and we want to keep improving. This is not the end, just the beginning.”
On the question of giving the bowling to Shefali Verma, the Indian captain said, “When Laura and Sune were gradually increasing the score, I saw Shefali standing there. She had batted well. I felt that I should listen to my conscience. My heart was telling me that I have to give her at least one over and this was the turning point for us. In the end, the South African team got a little nervous and this is where we got the advantage. Deepti came at the right time and took wickets.

Shefali Verma Had bowled only 14 overs in his entire international ODI career, but in the final he bowled amazingly and took two important wickets. Harmanpreet said that when Shefali came to the team, we told her that she would have to bowl 2-3 overs during the match, then Shefali had said, “If you give me bowling, I will try to bowl full 10 overs”. Credit goes to her, she was very positive and was always there for the team. Salute to them.
Regarding team coach Amol Majumdar, the Indian captain said that Amol sir was with the team and he always kept asking us to do something special and keep preparing for this big occasion. We should give credit to the support staff and BCCI. We did not make much changes in our team and they had full faith in us. It is because of everyone that we are here today.
