Hyderabad Weather: Heavy rainfall lashed Hyderabad on Thursday evening, leading to waterlogging in multiple parts of the city and causing traffic disruptions. Areas like Panjagutta, Chatrinaka, and Shaikpet reported significant water accumulation, resulting in slow-moving traffic during peak hours. The Hyderabad Traffic Police issued advisories, urging commuters to avoid certain stretches until conditions improve.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Hyderabad Traffic Police wrote, “Due to #HeavyRainfall, water-logged at Chatrinaka X Road. Along with #HYDRAA, on spot and regulating the traffic. Commuters from South Zone are advised to avoid this route for some time.”

Another advisory was issued for Shaikpet Nala, where waterlogging led to heavy traffic congestion and delays. Similar issues were reported on the stretch from Dabeerpura Darwaza to Dabeerpura Bridge, and in areas such as IS Sadan, Chilkalguda X Roads, Bible House RUB, Shaikpet Bridge ramp, Medi Vision, and Malakpet RUB.

Hyderabad Weather: What Does IMD Say?
The intense spell of rain began about an hour after the India Meteorological Department’s Hyderabad centre issued a warning for “intense to very intense” rainfall over the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

An orange alert for moderate rain, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms, has also been issued for several Telangana districts including Kamareddy, Malkajgiri, Medak, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Bhongir (Yadadri Bhuvanagiri), Narayanpet, and parts of Hyderabad.

According to forecasts, areas under GHMC including Kukatpally, Secunderabad, Mehdipatnam, Serilingampally, and Patancheru may receive 80–100 mm of rainfall.
