Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the new assembly building of Chhattisgarh in Nava Raipur today on Saturday, 1 November. This is not just a building, but a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s 25-year journey and its culture, tradition and development.

After all, why is the new assembly of Chhattisgarh so special?

Built at a cost of about Rs 324 crore, this grand building is spread over 51 acres. Making it special, there is a tremendous combination of traditional Bastar art, paddy carving and modern engineering. The carvings of paddy straws and leaves on the ceiling are a reminder of why Chhattisgarh is called the “Rice Bowl”. The doors and furniture are made by local artisans, due to which the art of Bastar is visible in every corner. The Assembly building is divided into three parts (Wing A, B, C)-

  • Wing A: Assembly Secretariat
  • Wing B: House, Central Hall, Office of the Chief Minister and the Speaker of the Assembly
  • Wing C: ministers’ offices

There is also a state-of-the-art auditorium with a capacity of 500 spectators and a central hall with 100 seats.

  • Solar power plant has been installed in it,
  • Two big ponds have been built to store rain water,
