The bat of Pakistan cricket team’s star batsman Babar Azam has failed to show any great feat for a long time. But amid continuous poor performance, Babar has made a new world record. Babar Azam, who was out of the T20 team for the last several months, recently made a comeback in the Pakistani team in this format and now he has become the highest run-scorer batsman in this format. Babar, who flopped in the first match against South Africa, broke the world record of most runs scored by former Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the second T20.
On Friday 31 October, the second T20 match was played between Pakistan and South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. In this match, the South African team was bundled out for just 110 runs, due to which Pakistan got an easy target to win. Pakistan made a fast start and opened with 54 runs, after which Babar Azam entered the crease. Before being dropped from the team, Babar Azam was continuously opening the batting but after his return, he is batting at number three.
Most runs in Babar’s name
In this match also, he came at number three and hit a four on the very first ball. Then as soon as Babar scored the 9th run, Rohit Sharma’s world record was broken. Babar has now become the highest run-scorer batsman in T20 International. Rohit had 4231 runs in his name and to break this record, Babar needed only 9 runs, which the former Pakistani captain achieved. Babar made this record in his 130th match and became world number-1 in this matter.
However, Babar had to work hard to reach this record and he batted like Test cricket in this T20 match. Babar scored 11 unbeaten runs in this match but even for these 11 runs he spent 18 balls. When Babar came to the crease, Pakistan needed 57 more runs to win and when the team won, Babar’s contribution was only 11 runs.
Pakistan’s easy victory
Talking about the match, Pakistan, on the strength of its fast bowlers, restricted South Africa to a paltry score of 110 runs in 19.2 overs. For that, all-rounder Faheem Ashraf took maximum 4 wickets, while Salman Mirza took 3 wickets. In response, Pakistan won the match in 13.1 overs on the basis of the explosive innings of young opener Saim Ayub. Ayub played a stormy inning of 71 runs in just 38 balls, which included 6 fours and 5 sixes. With this the series is tied at 1-1.
