Reports from Jaisalmer, Barmer to Jaipur and Udaipur

Rain activities will be very limited from August 7 to 14 in districts like Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner and Nagaur in western Rajasthan. However, there is a possibility of partial cloud cover and light rain in some areas around 10 August. At the same time, light to moderate rains may occur after August 9 in Bharatpur, Kota, Jaipur, Ajmer and parts of Udaipur divisions of eastern Rajasthan. Between 9 and 12 August, these areas may sometimes splatter with brightening, but there are no significant monsoon systems to be activated.

Rain broke 69 years record

The Meteorological Department has clarified that the state is likely to receive less than normal rainfall in the next one week. This can affect farmers’ kharif crops, which are already struggling due to limited rainfall. Rajasthan has recorded an average of 428.4 mm rainfall in this monsoon season so far, which is 81% more than normal. The rain in July has broken the record of 69 years.

The news of relief is that the monsoon may be active again between August 15 to 21. In the second week, more than normal rainfall is expected in the southern districts of the state – Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh etc. At the same time, there is a possibility of normal rainfall in the remaining parts. Experts believe that if the monsoon gains momentum after August 15, it is possible to improve the condition of crops. At present, the state government and the agriculture departments are advising farmers to be vigilant and pay attention to water management.
