Pakistan witnessed a sharp increase in terror attacks in 2025, but the country has imposed a ban on the sale and use of ‘baajas’ (vuvuzelas) in the national capital. According to a report by ARY News, the decision was taken by the authorities in view of Independence Day on August 14. The deputy commissioner of Islamabad has officially prohibited the sale and use of ‘baajas’ (vuvuzelas), warning that violations will result in legal action, as per the report.
Pakistan administration asks officials to take stern action
It said the assistant commissioners and magistrates were directed to seize horns from all roadside stalls set up within the city. The deputy commissioner instructed officers to take immediate action in the field and ensure enforcement against the sale of horns.
He further emphasised that operations should be conducted daily until Independence Day, and any officer whose jurisdiction includes stalls found selling horns will be held accountable. The preventive measures were announced at a time when the country was reeling with massive internal issues.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remained the worst-affected province, followed by Balochistan. In KP’s settled districts, insurgents carried out 27 attacks, resulting in 19 fatalities, including 11 security personnel, six civilians, and two militants.
The tribal districts of KP (erstwhile Fata) witnessed 19 attacks, leading to 46 deaths, including 13 security personnel, eight civilians, and 25 militants. Balochistan also experienced a surge in militant activity, with at least 24 attacks, which claimed 26 lives, including 11 security personnel, six civilians, and nine militants.
2 killed, 14 injured in blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Earlier today, at least two people were killed and 14 others, including police personnel, injured in a bomb blast in northwestern Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday, police said. District Police Officer Tahir Shah said the improvised explosive device (IED) blast occurred close to a police patrol vehicle near a taxi stand in Wana tehsil in South Waziristan district.
The powerful explosion killed two people and injured 14 others, including two police personnel, he said.

Tahir said security forces have been deployed in the area following the blast and subsequent firing. The injured were shifted to Wana Headquarters Hospital. Pakistan has seen a sharp rise in terrorist attacks, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, since the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) called off its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
