CM Yogi Adityanath launched ‘Run for Unity’ on National Unity Day in Lucknow. He said that like Sardar Patel, the true tribute is to rise above casteism and familyism and strengthen the integrity of the nation.
Lucknow. On the occasion of National Unity Day, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, echoed with the enthusiasm of patriotism and unity. While inaugurating the ‘Run for Unity’ organized on the 150th birth anniversary of ‘Bharat Ratna’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that playing with the integrity and unity of India is not acceptable. The Chief Minister paid tribute to Sardar Patel by garlanding his statue and called upon the youth to implement his ideals in life.

Chief Minister Yogi said that the nation-building dream of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is being realized today under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “The ‘Statue of Unity’ at Kevadiya is not just a monument, but it is a living symbol of the integrity and unity of India.” Yogi said that after independence, Sardar Patel had laid the foundation of united India by connecting 563 princely states. He foiled the British conspiracies and united the country. “When the integrity of the nation was at stake, the Iron Man took tough decisions – this was the true nationalism,” the CM said.

“Prime Minister Modi made Patel’s dream come true”
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi fulfilled the incomplete resolution of Sardar Patel by removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the true tribute is to assimilate the thoughts and ideals of those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
“Rise above casteism, nepotism and untouchability”
In his address, the Chief Minister appealed to the society to light the torch of unity against casteism, nepotism and untouchability. He said that it is the duty of every Indian to oppose the forces that divide the society. “The proof of true patriotism is to oppose every force that weakens the unity of the nation,” he said.
‘Run for Unity’ resonates in 75 districts of the state
The Chief Minister said that ‘Run for Unity’ programs were organized simultaneously in all 75 districts of the state, in which lakhs of youth, students, administrative officers and citizens participated. The event became not just a race but a symbol of India’s integrity, social harmony and national unity.
Cultural group will go to Kevadiya from Uttar Pradesh
CM Yogi announced that a cultural troupe and a delegation of handicraftsmen from Uttar Pradesh will be sent to Kevadiya (Gujarat) to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. A program will be organized there on November 12 under the leadership of the Governor. He said that this event is also an opportunity to strengthen ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Swadeshi Campaign’, which will inspire the artisans of UP towards self-reliance.
Light the torch of unity by taking inspiration from Sardar Patel
The Chief Minister said that Sardar Patel taught us that the integrity of the nation is paramount. He said, “Today we should oppose every power that tries to weaken the unity of the country. This will be a true tribute to Patel ji.”
CM paid tribute on social media
Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi also paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the social media platform X. He wrote, “Humble tribute to the great freedom fighter, Iron Man, Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary and hearty congratulations to the people of the state on National Unity Day. The commitment made by Sardar Saheb for the integrity of the country will always inspire us.”
