Narmada river becomes new habitat for crocodiles in Madhya Pradesh, preparations for Omkareshwar sanctuary in full swing

On Thursday, after performing puja in Narmadanagar (Punasa) of Khandwa district, the Chief Minister released 6 crocodiles brought from Van Vihar, Bhopal in the clean waters of Mother Narmada River. This initiative is part of the ongoing wildlife conservation programs in the state.

The Chief Minister said that Narmada River is extremely suitable for the habitat of crocodiles. Their presence will strengthen the river’s ecosystem and water flow. Crocodiles are an important link in the aquatic ecosystem and their conservation is essential for the balance of water sources.

Plan of Omkareshwar Sanctuary: Forest Department gave detailed information

Forest Department officials presented a detailed action plan related to the proposed Omkareshwar Sanctuary before Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. It is noteworthy that the total area of ​​Khandwa General Forest Division is 2,83,773.23 hectares, in which the area of ​​the proposed Omkareshwar Sanctuary will be 61,407.09 hectares. This includes Punasa, Mundi, Chandgarh and Baldi ranges of Khandwa forest division. At the same time, Satwas, Kotaphod, Punjapura and Udayanagar areas of Dewas forest division will also be included in this sanctuary.

Indira Sagar area becomes safe habitat for crocodiles

The Chief Minister said that in the backwater area of ​​Indira Sagar Project, a suitable environment is available for the conservation and promotion of the crocodile, the vehicle of Mother Narmada. The area has ideal conditions for the reproduction and protection of aquatic organisms.
