Adani Power Limited: The Adani Group will set up a 2400 MW Super Critical Thermal Power Plant in Pirpainti of Bhagalpur district of Bihar. The project will invest Rs 25,000 crore, which is the largest private investment in the state so far.

Bihar News: The country’s leading industrial group Adani Power Limited has achieved the project by making the project by making the lowest bidding for the construction of a 2400 MW thermal power plant in Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district of the state. The Adani Group will invest Rs 25,000 crore in this project, which is the largest investment made by any private sector in Bihar so far. The project will be set up under the agreement between the Bihar government and the Adani Group, under which the state government will buy electricity at the rate of ₹ 6.08 per unit for the next 30 years. This rate has been set by combining stable fee (₹ 4.16 per unit) and fuel and transport fee (₹ 1.92 per unit).

Electricity consumption in Bihar by 2035 17,000 MW

According to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), electricity consumption in Bihar is expected to reach 17,000 MW by the year 2035. Keeping this increasing need, the Pirpainti project is an important step towards the state’s energy self -sufficiency. This will be the largest power unit in the state so far, with three super critical units of 800 MW. Through super critical technology, more power generation than low coal will be possible, which will also increase energy efficiency.

1,500 people will get employment

About 1,500 people are expected to provide direct and indirect employment from this project. Also, the local economy will also be encouraged. More than 1,000 acres of land has been acquired for the construction of a power house. More land will be acquired if needed. For the supply of coal, 12 million tonnes of coal has been allocated to the project for the next 30 years from Rajmahal Coal Block in Jharkhand. The tender released for the project was attended by JSW Energy, MB Power, Torrent Power and Adani Power, but the most competitive dialect was from Adani Group, which won it.

Approval given in cabinet meeting

Let us tell you that earlier there was a plan to set up a solar power project in Pirpainti, but due to practical and geographical reasons, that plan was postponed and instead the plan of thermal power plant was given priority. The government has transferred land to the Adani Group for 33 years on payment of registration and stamp duty at the rate of ₹ 1 per year. The project was given final approval in the State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday. With this, the way of construction work has been paved and power generation is expected to start from here in the coming five years.

‘Milestone will prove to be’

Bihar Government Energy, Planning and Development Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said that this is the largest and ambitious power project of the state so far. The agency has been selected as per the rules and now the implementation of the project will be expedited. He also said that this project will not only meet the energy needs of the state but will also prove to be a milestone for industrial investment in Bihar.
