Woman kept details of such a huge amount in court

Bharti’s argument was that her X husband is rich and he can easily bear such an amount. The details of the expenses presented in the court were as follows -Rs 50,000 per month as the fees of the Vakil, Rs 4-5 lakh for physiotherapy and other medical expenses, Rs 15,000 for clothes and accessories and Rs 60,000 for monthly expenses of home. In this way, Bharti had demanded a total of ₹ 6,16,300 per month.

The court reacted strongly, calling this demand unfair. The single bench of Justice Lalita Kanneganti said, ‘Does any woman spend so much? If she wants to spend so much, she should work and earn themselves. ‘ Along with this, he also asked the woman’s lawyer to give appropriate details of real expenses.

What did the court say?

The court clarified that the purpose of Section 24 of the Hindu Marriage Act is not to punish the husband or wife, but to ensure the basic standard of living for the person who does not have income. The court also said that this provision should not be misused and alimony should be fixed only on the basis of real requirements.
