According to the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation, the maintenance is being done to strengthen the power network and improve safety. People living in affected areas are advised to plan accordingly.

In the Ponneri division, power will be cut in places like Theruvai Kandigai, Sipcot, Karadiputtur, Amarambeedu, Thanippoondi, Panchalai, Vaanimalli, and Periyapuliyur.

Areas in Korattur such as Srinivasapuram, NRS Road, Lake View Garden, TVS Nagar, Lakshmipuram, Iyyappa Nagar, Senthil Nagar (1st to 17th Street), and Thillai Nagar will also be impacted.
In separate news, the Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Tamil Nadu as widespread rainfall is expected to intensify over the next few days. On Thursday, hill areas in Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Vellore, and Ranipet are likely to receive notable showers. Rainfall activity is expected to pick up further on Friday, with heavy rain predicted in parts of Coimbatore’s hilly zones, Nilgiris, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Tiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Salem, and Puducherry.

The rain is forecast to persist through Saturday, affecting areas including Villupuram, Cuddalore, Chengalpattu, Kallakurichi, and Tiruvannamalai, along with Puducherry. Chennai is also likely to witness light to moderate showers, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning, over the next 48 hours. Temperature variations were also observed across Tamil Nadu, with Madurai Airport recording the highest daytime temperature of 39°C, while Karur Paramathi logged the lowest nighttime temperature of 19.5°C.
