DDA flat (meaning of symbolic)
DDA Housing Scheme: Wanting to own a home in the national capital Delhi is a dream that everyone cherishes in their eyes. But in this era of skyrocketing prices, this dream often dies before it can become a reality. When even a normal two-room flat in a metro city like Delhi-NCR costs a huge amount of Rs 40 to 90 lakh, but Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has come up with a housing scheme for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low Income Group (LIG), which can fit in your budget and turn your years-old dream into reality.
What is this special housing scheme of DDA?
Delhi Development Authority has announced the second phase (Phase-2) of ‘Jan Sadharan Awas Yojana 2025’. This scheme is especially for those people who have not been able to buy their house till now due to financial challenges. The main objective of this scheme is to provide houses at affordable rates to EWS and LIG category people in Delhi itself. This is not a luxury scheme, rather it directly targets thousands of families who live and work in Delhi, but are forced to live in rented houses due to expensive properties.
Price of flats starts from only Rs 11.8 lakh
What makes this scheme most special is the price of these flats. Under this scheme of DDA, the price of EWS and LIG category flats starts from only Rs 11.8 lakh. This price goes up to Rs 32.7 lakh, depending on the type and location of the flat. Just imagine, in a city where prices below Rs 25-30 lakh are not acceptable, you are getting a real opportunity to buy your house for less than Rs 15 lakh. This is a great help for those families whose income is limited. While fixing the price of these flats, DDA has taken special care of the purchasing power of EWS and LIG category, so that they can easily make these houses their own by taking home loan.
In which areas of Delhi are these flats?
Often, affordable schemes come with the assumption that these flats will be far away from the city or in underdeveloped areas. But according to the information given on the DDA website, these flats are available in good and well-known locations of Delhi. Under the scheme, EWS category flats are being made available in areas like Narela, Rohini, Ramgarh Colony and Shivaji Marg. At the same time, people wishing to buy LIG category flats can also look for options in Rohini Sector 34 and 35, apart from Ramgarh Colony located near Jahangirpuri.
How and when to apply?
If you want to take advantage of this golden opportunity, then you will have to take special care of the date and time. DDA will start booking of flats for Phase-2 of ‘Jan Sadharan Awas Yojana 2025’ on November 7, 2025 at 12 noon. This scheme will be completely based on the principle of ‘first come, first serve’. This means whoever applies first will get the chance to choose and book the flat first. For application, a booking amount (registration fee) of ₹ 1 lakh (Rupees one lakh) for LIG category flats and ₹ 50,000 (Fifty thousand rupees) for EWS category flats will have to be deposited.
