In 2015, Ashok Kumar Singh (BJP) secured 57,501 votes, defeating RJD’s Ambika Singh (49,490 votes) by 8,011 votes. With this victory, BJP had a strong hold on Ramgarh.
2010 assembly elections: RJD’s dominance
In 2010, RJD’s Ambika Singh defeated Ashok Kumar Singh by securing 30,787 votes. At that time Ashok Kumar Singh was an independent candidate and he got 27,809 votes.
Caste equation and political illusion
Ramgarh seat has a large number of Yadav, Bhumihar and Dalit voters. These equations decide the outcome in every election. RJD gets the support of Yadav and Muslim voters, while BJP gets the support of Bhumihar and upper castes. BSP also keeps an eye on the Dalit vote bank.
