The incident took place at Mahipalpur flyover, where a young man was standing dangerously on the edge with the intention of committing suicide. Delhi Police itself has shared the video of this entire incident on its official X account. The bravery of Sub-Inspector Anil Sharma is clearly visible in the video, due to which a major accident was averted.
It is seen in the video that instead of running towards the youth, SI Anil Sharma is talking to him peacefully. He first tried to calm the young man and won his trust. He gave water to the young man and kept talking to him patiently. According to Delhi Police, Sharma also gave his mobile phone to the young man to divert his attention.
As soon as the young man’s attention was drawn to the phone, Sharma quickly grabbed it and pulled it away from the shore. After this, other people present nearby also came forward to help and the young man was taken to a safe place.

Delhi Police has also praised its officer for his wisdom, courage and presence of mind. Police said, “On reaching the spot, SI Anil Sharma calmed the youth by talking, gave him water and distracted him by giving him his mobile. Seeing the right opportunity, he quickly caught hold of the youth safely and pulled him away from the flyover. His sensitivity and immediate action saved a precious life.”
