“NaMo Kendra” turns out to be a fraud! Fake institute was running in Aligarh in the name of PM Modi

A case of running a fake ‘Centre for Narendra Modi Studies’ in the name of Prime Minister Modi has come to light in Aligarh. On the complaint of PMO, CBI registered a case against accused Jasim Mohammad. The investigation has revealed many fraudulent activities of the organization.

Aligarh How can an organization be formed by misusing the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi? This question arose when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against a person from Aligarh. It is alleged that he not only misled people by creating a “fake research center” in the name of Prime Minister Modi, but also openly disregarded government rules.

CBI took action on PMO’s complaint

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against a person named Jasim Mohammad from Uttar Pradesh on the complaint of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). According to the report, a case was registered on October 24 under the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act. The action was taken on the recommendation of the PMO after it was found that the accused was running the institute in the name of “Prime Minister Narendra Modi” without permission.

What was this fake ‘research centre’?

Preliminary investigation by CBI revealed that Jasim Mohammad had formed an organization named ‘Centre for Narendra Modi Studies’ or ‘NaMo Kendra’. This organization was registered under the Indian Trust Act, 1860 on 25 January 2021 but no permission was taken for it from either the Central Government or the PMO. The institute’s website described it as an “independent global research centre” where “the country’s intellectuals, social reformers and thinkers come together to formulate strategies to make India a global power.”

Books and activities, all under false claims

CBI came to know that this center claimed to do research on the policies and ideology of Prime Minister Modi. Many books were published in the name of the institute, the most prominent of which was “Narendra Modi: An Ideology”, which Jasim Mohammed said was written by himself. It was claimed on the cover of the book that its foreword was written by Dr. Kiran Bedi (IPS Retd.). However, according to media reports, this could not be independently confirmed.

Similarly, a four-part series “Narendra Modi: International Relations” was also published by the institute, which included books like ‘Harbinger of Change’, ‘Heralding a New World Order’, ‘A New Awakening’ and ‘Towards All-around Happiness’.

Demand to give Bharat Ratna posthumously to Ratan Tata

In September, the executive committee of NaMo Kendra had written a formal letter to President Draupadi Murmu, demanding the posthumous award of Bharat Ratna to late industrialist Ratan Tata. Jasim had issued a statement saying that “Ratan Tata was a visionary and compassionate industrialist whose life is an example of nation-building.”

What will CBI do now?

The CBI is now investigating how much financial benefit Jasim Mohammed derived from this so-called “NaMo Kendra”, and whether he misled people or organizations. According to officials, the investigation will also look into whether there was any attempt to gain political or financial benefits through this organization.
