Dev Uthani Ekadashi 2025: Devuthani Ekadashi falls on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. On this day Lord Vishnu wakes up from 4 months of Yoga Nidra. Shri Hari rests in the underworld for 4 months and then wakes up on Devuthani Ekadashi and once again controls the creation. As soon as Chaturmas ends, auspicious works begin. This year, Devuthani Ekadashi will be celebrated on 1 November 2025, which is also known as Devutthan Ekadashi and Dev Prabodhini Ekadashi.

According to religious scriptures, by worshiping Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi as per the rituals on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi, one gets relief from all sorrows and attains immense happiness and prosperity. Fasting and worshiping on this day is considered very fruitful. Also, some things should be taken special care of on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi, otherwise mistakes made on this day become the cause of misfortune.

What not to do on Devuthani Ekadashi?

On the day of Devuthani Ekadashi, there is a tradition of awakening Lord Vishnu from sleep and taking him on a chariot ride. If this is not possible, then make them sit respectfully on the seat and then lift the seat and take them on a tour. Doing this increases happiness and prosperity in the house.

Keep a fast on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi and the next day take Prasad by eating Amla and Tulsi in Paran. Do not consume tamasic food even by mistake a day before Ekadashi and till Dwadashi. Even if you have not fasted, stay away from Tamasic food on this day.

On the day of Devuthani Ekadashi, special care should be taken of cleanliness in the house. Do not keep dirt in the house on this day and keep the main entrance of the house clean. In the evening, light a ghee lamp at the main entrance of the house and near the Tulsi plant.

Eating rice is prohibited on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi. In such a situation, one should not eat rice even by mistake on this day. Apart from this, consumption of radish and brinjal is also prohibited on this day.
