The method of appearance of prisoners in Himachal’s jails is completely changing. Now on the lines of Gujarat, the prisoners will appear in the court through video conferencing, which will eliminate the need to bring them from jail to court.
To implement this system, the video conferencing system installed in the jails of the state will be upgraded. While this change will save time and resources, the risk of bringing the prisoners to the court will also end. Work on this project will start as soon as the approval from the High Court and the State Government.
The system of e-pesse in the jails of the state has started in 2019, but at present it is being used only to extend the remand period. For other muscles, prisoners are sent to court along with battalion or guard. The prison department bears its expenses. A small contingent of the battalion in the Central Model Prison Kanda is specially deployed to carry prisoners. In other jails, a guard is sought from the police line for this. The prison department is spending on taking millions of rupees annually to be brought to the court. With the implementation of the new system, this money will be saved and its use can be spent on other schemes for welfare of prisoners. With the new system, the prisoners will be produced in the court through video conferencing from the jail premises itself. This system will be implemented in all 14 jails of the state.
Plan to implement the system on the lines of Gujarat
In Gujarat’s jails, 45 percent of prisoners are being produced through virtual medium. It is also proposed to start all types of muscles in Himachal’s jails through video conferencing. This system will be implemented immediately after the approval of the court and the government. Negotiations will also be available to interaction with tele medicine and family
After making video conferencing hi -tech in jails, tele medicine facility will also be provided for prisoners. Doctors posted in jails will be able to discuss the health of the prisoners with specialist doctors. Video conferencing will also be used to get the prisoners interaction with the family members.
